Jillapalooza

I love my birthday. It’s a day that is all about me...and Jenny Kelly and Kevin...Beyonce and Anthony Weiner, and some other people probably.

Anyway. ME. I love my birthday. My parents always made me feel special from the moment I woke up on my birthday. I’d get one present in the morning and in the evening it was my choice for dinner accompanied by cake. I remember getting an alarm clock radio combo one year and thought it was so cool. I was such a weird kid. I sadly don’t remember the last gift my dad bought me, but the last gift my mother bought me for my birthday was a papasan chair. I had always wanted one and she thought it would look good in my new apartment with Brandy. That chair is so comfortable. I sit in it whenever I’m sad and it feels like a hug from my mom. I’ll never get rid of it.

I remember throwing myself birthday parties since my 20th, but Jillapalooza didn’t really take shape until my 26th in 2005. I was living in Yellow Springs and had made so many new friends in the area as well as had my friends in Middletown and those with the Dayton Rugby team. I wanted to spend time with ALL of them, but of course couldn’t get schedules all lined up. I took advantage of my birthday falling around Labor Day, and turned that 3-day weekend into Jillapalooza weekend. I would have an event in Yellow Springs. I would have an event in Dayton. I would also have an event in Middletown. That Monday usually ended up being 2 for 1 day at the Ohio Renaissance Fair, and Brandy was usually my birthday date to the Faire. I wanted to spread the love to everyone who would attend. Yes, it was JILLapallooza, but it was really about me being able to be with my all of my friends. That was my present to myself.

A big Jillapallooza is looming. If you haven’t noticed, I’m turning 30 this year and will be celebrating for TEN days instead of just 4. Julie and Stewy are flying out from Ohio to help celebrate. I am very excited about this. I am going to take them to some awesome places in Oregon and just enjoy their presence. The trip really is all about them. The only day i will make about myself is my birthday. I hope they enjoy their time out here.

There is a tentative Jillapalloza 30th Extravaganza itinerary, but will most likely change a little bit once Julie and Stew land here and get a better since of what they want to do in Oregon. For now it is:

  • Friday: Julie and Stewy fly in
  • Saturday: Big Foot Bash and Bounty (Be jealous)
  • Sunday: Leisurely Drive back to Corvallis, Cookout at the house
  • Monday: Astoria. We're Goonies fans.
  • Tuesday: Bend
  • Wednesday: Bend
  • Thursday: Winery tour:  Van Duzer, Emerson, Airlie
  • Friday: Back to Portland
  • Saturday: Eugene Reign vs Portland Pigs
  • Sunday: Julie and Stewy fly back to Ohio. Night out with the Man Cave boys. Steve-O has plans, oh does he have plans. Karaoke will be involved...and glitter.
  • Monday:  Thank goodness for a recovery day!

It will definitely be a Jillapalooza to remember. Do I dare try to top it?

I will be sure to update you on the awesomeness that happens during that week including commentary from Julie and Stewy.

So excited about some Bigfoot hunting!!!
