Corvallis Women's Rugby Club

Went to a practice tonight.  It was actually only touch with the men and since I'm still not 100% after getting Dysentery on the Oregon Trail, I opted out and just watched.

Only 4 women (and me) were at the practice.  There seems to be a long way to go.

I met the two leaders behind forming the new team and they seem super cool and are really dedicated to starting rugby in Corvallis for women. The men's team has only been around for a year and already has 40 members CIPP'd.  I feel pretty positive about this.

Tori has been playing awhile, and still plays for the Oregon Sports Union team.  It's a premier team and a higher level of rugby with a few Eagles on their team.  She wants the Corvallis team to be competitive and play D2.    She offered to work out with me and I am going to take her up on it as she has a program called rugby fit that she caters to the individual.  I'll talk to her about my MS and weird balance problems.  Hopefully we can work on my core and balance during these sessions.  She is also going to run the conditioners for the men's team.  Very excited to have her as a leader.

Amy played in high school over in London and in college.  She has a lot of experience too.  So I am excited to be able to play with some great players.

Odds are Corvallis won't be enough women to field a team for games, but they're going to try.   I am going to go to a Eugene practice next week to see what their numbers are.  I might end up splitting my time between both teams.  It's good to have options.
