| Jeff and I in front of CenturyLink Field |
My boys came out to Seattle to play the Seahawks and I was able to convince my brother to come for a visit too. He showed up on Friday and we did a tour of Corvallis. He got some Beaver gear for himself (never shut up about the awesome sweatshirt he found on clearance) and some Beaver Gear for Michele and Logan. I showed him around campus briefly and then we checked out some Corvallis Bars.
Sadly, we watched the Cardinals (man I hate the Cardinals) beat the Texans at Flat Tail while eating some delicious appetizers and then headed off to Suds so that Jeff could meet my boys: The Roommates and Gibby. Of course everyone liked Jeff better than me. Always happens. I don't know why....he kind of sucks.
Saturday morning, Jeff and I had breakfast at the BrokenYolk Café. It’s one of my favorite breakfast joints in town since I absolutely adore their huevos ranchersos. They aren’t as good as those at Studio One Cafe in Eugene, but they are tasty. After looking at mine, Jeff wished he would have ordered them, but he wasn’t disappointed in what he had. He really liked Broken Yolk and can’t wait to visit me again so he can go back there. After our bellies were full, we drove to Portland where we watched the Beavers play Utah at Paddy's. I had THE most delicious jalapeno poppers I have ever had. They weren't from a box and frozen, they were fresh, hand dipped in delicious batter and fried. Not the healthiest, but darn they were yummy. The Beavers didn’t win, but hanging out with my brother made up for it. He’s a Beaver fan now!
The next morning we got up at 7am to drive to Seattle, which is about 3 hours away from Portland. I was surprised to see Jeff wearing Bengals regalia. He had told me he wasn’t a fan anymore. It wasn’t that he hated the team per se, just Mike Brown, which is a valid point. Since the money wasn’t going to Mike Brown, Jeff didn’t feel bad about going to the game in Seattle. We also had Bengals flags for the car that were flying on the way up to Seattle. We got many honks from fellow Bengals fans who passed. We also got dirty looks from Seahawk fans. It was all in fun…I hope.
We navigated to Seattle without any problems and even found a place to park the car to “tailgate.” We were welcomed by Seahawk fans…it wasn’t the most endearing welcome, but it was fun to exchange words with the opposing team’s fans. We walked to Elysian Fields for some pregame food and a few brews. It wasn’t really the sports bar I was hoping for, but the ones we passed were very busy. We had gotten to Elysian just before the big crowds came in. I was BEYOND excited to see that they had five, yes FIVE different kinds of pumpkin beer. I love anything pumpkin. Since they did not have a sampler, and since I didn’t want to get drunk off of pumpkin beer, I only had two. They were yummy and very pumpkiny.
After we had our food, we had to go BACK to the car because we forgot the tickets. At least we didn’t forget them in Portland or Corvallis. We stopped by a Shell station to pick up some Coors with which to “tailgate” back at our parking space. Oh those Wells kids and their beer. While we drank our beers, listened to insults by the Seahawk fans and watched a group of kids throw the football around. After we finished our beers, we made our way back to the stadium.

Centurylink Field is a nice stadium and we had great seats. We were in the endzone and had a great view of the city. We were surrounded by Seahawk fans, but we didn’t care. The people we sat next to were actually very nice. Every time the Bengals scored, Jeff and I sang the Bengals fight song. I overheard the lady a few seats down say she wished the Seahawks had a song. If only she knew how many songs were played at Paul Brown Stadium, Bang the Drum All Day, Jungle Fever, Welcome to the Jungle, and songs by our own Bootsie Collins. Bengals Fans know how to party!

| WHO DEY! |
We won! 34-12! I was so happy to see the Bengals again and was very happy that they won. I don't know when I will get to see them again. It's possible that I will get to go home for the Holidays in 2012 and I might be able to see a game then. I believe the Bengals play the Chargers next year IN San Diego....maybe I'll drive the 17 hours down to see THAT game.
