Rehearsal Dinner for Jeff and Michele

The wedding rehearsal and the dinner were lots of fun.

I was paired with Alex Webb because my brother said he was the only groomsman tall enough to escort me.  Curse my height for getting me stuck with such a goon!  Sigh, I guess Alex isn’t so bad.  He’s sort of like another brother to me.  Sadly, most of those High School friends of Jeff’s are like brothers to me.

Alex and Logan
Logan looked adorable as a ring bearer, but unfortunately his co-ring bearer, his cousin Jacob, was too sick to come to the rehearsal.  We all crossed our fingers that he would be well enough to attend the wedding.
There really wasn’t much to practice.  It was to be a simple, short and sweet, yet elegant ceremony.  Alex and I practiced going down the aisle once and the officiant (Jeff picked the dude because his name was Grant Smiley) just briefly went over what was going to happen.  We were done in 30 minutes so we were off to the dinner uptown.

Logan taking his job as Ring Bearer VERY seriously.

I cannot for the life of me remember where we had the rehearsal dinner.  I do know it was below 45 East, which was Attractions back when I was going to school at Miami.

Jeff was in his element as the host to all of his friends and being center of attention.  I think it’s because he’s the middle child and was starving for attention all of the time.  ;-)  He asked us all to go around to say how we all fit in.  It was nice to hear from Michele’s bridesmaids and from Jeff’s college friends who I had met for the first time that night.  Joe of course was Joe when it was his turn to speak.  He didn’t really go into detail, or share anything emotional.  Luckily his wife Megan was there to add a little personality.   When it was my turn to introduce myself to the group, I could barely talk because I was too busy fighting back the tears.  My brothers are very important to me.  The three of us have been through a lot and it was good to be able to share a special and happy event together.  The thought of my big brother being so happy made me cry tears of joy.  I am so thankful for Michele and Megan for making my brothers so happy.  I couldn't ask for better sister in laws.

After dinner the crowd had dwindled.  Michele left the party so that she could do some last minute things and be able to get some rest, but Jeff and company were still going strong. What was left of the bridal party celebrated more by toasting Jeff and Michele with various adult beverages.  Since we were in Oxford and many of us were Miami Graduates, we had to do a shot of Jaeger in honor of Yager Stadium.  It’s tradition.  There were some other shots that I am pretty sure the groomsman just made up.

It was getting late and we had drank our limit at that particular establishment, so we decided to do a little bar hopping on High Street.  We ended up at Steinkeller’s.  It’s my favorite.  Special memory of my brother taking me there for my 21st birthday.  The whole night wasn’t special…but that was.  I had a Mug of Warsteiner to remember the good old times of college.

Slowly, the group began to break up, but Julie and I followed Jeff to B-Dubs to have one last drink with his college buddies.  They are super cool.  I wish they were MY friends instead of Jeff’s.  I bet they think the same thing.  ;-)  Jeff could have gone all night, but the good friends and family that we all are….we told him he needed to get some rest. He actually listened to us and we all parted ways to get a good night's rest before the big day.
