First Birthday in Oregon

I of course was sad that I wouldn't be planning crazy birthday events all weekend long.  I knew I was going to miss my friends and family something awful, but thanks to new friends in Oregon, it was a good birthday.

I went to the Eugene Reign rugby match in the morning.  I needed to be reminded of how much I love the game and how it completes me.  They were playing against the Portland Pigs.  I kind of want to play for the Portland Pigs since they are pigs, although not flying, and their colors are red and black.  I would have fit right in.  You could see the mountains from the pitch and it was beautiful.  Not like any pitch in Ohio.

Lineout
It was an interesting match to watch.  I think Eugene needs a lot more organization, especially in defense.  The forwards really need to step it up.  It seemed like the flanker/prop did all of the work of the forwards.  They weren't flat and the forwards seemed to just hover behind the rucks/mauls...not setting up a defense and not setting up a cell to take the ball.  It was frustrating to watch.  I'll see how practice goes this week.  Yes, I'm going to play for them.  I miss rugby too much not to play and Corvallis isn't set up yet.  I should help them get together and I already know 2 other girls who want to play.  I just need to play now.

After that I went back to Corvallis where I grabbed some sushi as I was starving.  Then it was home for a nap.

After the nap, I met Lindsay and friends at Block 15 to watch the TCU vs Oregon State game.  We took up the party room in the back. It was a really good game to watch.  Very close and intense.  Sadly, OSU lost, but they played better against TCU than was expected.  After the game, we all went back to Lindsay and Eric's for cake!

Lindsay baked a duo bday cake.  Her friend Kevin has the exact same birthday as I, but we found out I'm about 13 hours older.  So Lindsay made this delicious cake with the help of her wedding gift, a kitchenaid mixer.  She put two candles on it, one for me and one for Kevin and we made our wishes.

Everyone at the party was super nice.  I had an excellent time and laughed the whole night!  I am so appreciative of Lindsay who went out of her way to make sure I had a great first birthday in Oregon.

I'm so glad you had a good time. I'll be honest, there's really nothing I love more than throwing a good party.
